Prior to the first session, I ask that each client fill out a personal data and health screen form. I am bound by the same confidentiality laws as any health care professional, therefore, all information communicated to me, whether written or verbal, is considered confidential.
There are some medical conditions where massage may be contraindicated, or require written permission from your primary care physician. If such is the case, I will try to work with you to make the necessary arrangements ahead of time.
I request that my clients arrive for each session alcohol and drug free, as massage may increase the affect of alcohol and some drugs. Your session will be cancelled if you arrive needing to bathe, or if I suspect you are intoxicated, or under the influence of drugs--and payment in full will be expected.
Cautions:
If you have hypertension (high blood pressure) please let me know prior to your massage appointment. Massage increases circulation, which can put additional stress on the circulatory system. In this case, I may require written permission from your primary care physician ahead of time.
If you are diabetic or hypoglycemic, be aware that massage can increase the rate of digestion, and therefore cause a drop in your blood sugar level. Please do not skip a meal prior to massage.
If you are suffering from a systemic infection, such as the flu, or a cold, please reschedule your appointment. It has been my experience that massage can increase the severity and duration of such infections. If you are in any doubt as to whether or not you should cancel, call me.
